What is your background?

 

I grew up on a farm in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, and attended boarding school from the age of six. After finishing school, I studied in Stellenbosch before embarking on a career working on cruise ships in 1999. Initially employed in the Spa, I quickly transitioned to the role of Cruise Ship Photographer with The Image Group.

 

Over 17 years with The Image Group, I progressed from Junior Photographer to Photo Manager aboard ships during my first nine years. In late 2008, I transitioned to the Miami office as a New Build Project Manager, moved to Operations Management in 2010, and later that year relocated to the Grand Cayman office as Digital Development Project Manager. My husband and I met in 2006 on one of the many cruise ship set up projects I worked on and I moved to the UK in 2015 to be with him.

 

Tell us a bit more about yourself:

​

I enjoy going for a run or I make time to rebound everyday, I also love walking my dog and being outdoors, staying active is important to me. My husband and I also like to travel, we love active holidays where we can walk or cycle when we explore and we enjoy experiencing different cultures, their cuisines and learning about their history. Drawing and painting is another of my passions, mainly animals and I like working with Acrylic on canvas.​

How long have you been with Halsys?

​

I joined Halsys in March 2023. Although only recently, I have known Halsys since the early 2000’s. Halsys, then known as Halse developed the photography production workflow for The Image Group, a workflow that streamlined the cruise photography process of capturing the photographs of the guests to delivering the printed product in the very finite time constraints of a cruise . I was part of the exciting development phase when speculative printing was discontinued and the guests could view their cruise photos on kiosks and order the products they wanted.

 

What do you enjoy about working with the team?

​

That we are a team in every sense of the word, everyone is invested in our projects, really cares about the quality of work we deliver and that our customers are happy.

 

What is your area of expertise?

​

Project Management in the volume photography industry, delivering projects on time and within budget. I also enjoy the creative side of User Interface design.

What’s your favourite feature of MaxLab?

​

It’s hard to choose a favourite feature, so many features have been developed to streamline production and reduce the man hours needed to produce high quality photographs at high volume. From MaxLab Client where auto cropping and auto culling, just to name a couple of features, reduces editing time, to Layout designer and its tools for bespoke product creation at scale, to MaxLab Production Agent which manages direct printing with minimal user intervention.​

Favourite piece of customer feedback?

​

My favourite feedback is that MaxLab has increased one of our clients productivity by 30-35%, it’s great to get quantifiable feedback. It’s also encouraging that we get so much positive feedback about our customer service and how timely we are, it’s very motivating.

 

You're hosting your dream dinner party. Who are you inviting?

​

Who are you inviting? Ricky Gervais, he’s hilarious, says it how it is and I admire the work he does around animal rights. Tom Hanks, his acting career has been so versatile, he strikes me as such a lovely guy. Joe Rogan, he has interviewed so many people on his podcast, he must have a lot of good stories to tell. Michelle Obama, she’s an all round force and advocate for women's health.
