So, how does it all work?

Layout Designer is incredibly powerful, allowing you to create stunning designs like the one we’re about to show—let’s take, for example, a magazine front cover for each pupil in a school. Here’s how it all comes together.

Step 1: The Picture

It all starts with the picture—one you’ve taken using a green screen. You can easily remove the background and seamlessly insert your subject into the design.

Step 2: The Background

Next, choose the background. Whether it’s a custom graphic, a themed backdrop, or something more specific to the design, the background sets the tone of your image.

Step3: Add the Data

Finally, data comes into play. This could be the pupil's name, their sport, school house or any other personalised information. Layout Designer can easily pull this data from your database and apply it to the images.

Putting it all together

Now, these individual elements—the image, the background, and the data—can traditionally be compiled in Photoshop or other editing software which, as we all know, is slow and laborious. However, the real power of MaxLab Layout Designer lies in its speed and efficiency. Instead of manually creating one image at a time, Layout Designer allows you to automate the entire process. You can quickly produce hundreds of customised images with just a few clicks.

What does the layout look like?

Let's take a look at what a layout might look like for this magazine cover product.

At first glance, this may look complex. But don’t worry—the design process is a one-time setup. Thanks to Layout Designer’s intuitive tools, it’s easier than it looks. Once the layout is complete, you’re ready to create multiple unique images with different data.

For example, in our layout, elements like the name, sport, and magazine title are dynamically linked to the data stored with each image. This means the text will automatically change depending on the information available for each pupil. So, with the same layout, you can create endless variations simply by updating the data.

Multiple images, same layout

Here’s another set of images using the same layout.

As you can see, while the output looks different, the underlying layout remains unchanged. This is the magic of MaxLab Layout Designer: it automates customisation at scale, saving you time and effort while delivering high-quality, personalised products every single time.

Layout Designer doesn’t just handle complex and high-end projects— it’s equally effective for more straightforward tasks. Whether you're creating class composites, personalised panel prints, or staff ID cards, MaxLab Layout Designer has you covered.

Class Composites

Need to create a class composite for each group of students? MaxLab Layout Designer simplifies this process, allowing you to assemble individual student images into one polished, cohesive design quickly and effortlessly. With just a few clicks, you can produce multiple variations for different classes, saving time and ensuring consistency.

Personalised panel prints

Maybe you’re designing personalised panel prints? MaxLab Layout Designer makes it easy to create stunning, customised prints with names, images, and other details—all in a single setup. You can design the layout once and let the software handle the rest, automatically generating multiple unique panel prints from your data set.

Staff ID Cards

For tasks such as creating staff ID cards, MaxLab Layout Designer’s ability to work with one design across multiple images shines. With a standardised layout for the ID card, simply input the staff data and photos, and Layout Designer will generate individual cards for each person, all with the correct names, photos, and details.

By automating both the intricate and the everyday tasks, Layout Designer ensures that no matter what you’re working on, you can do it quickly, efficiently, and at scale. Whether creating one-off bespoke products or managing bulk projects with thousands of images, MaxLab Layout Designer is the solution for personalised image creation at any level.
